Customer Reviews:
"Andrea knows I have been an admirer of her writing since the first we met. She has a unique
combination of the ability to write many forms of poetry that other writers find difficult, especially the
sonnet and the intelligence to use proper grammar with great verbiage. Andrea also has great humor,
which can be noted in many of her poems. It is difficult for me to choose favorites of hers because
I love them all, but I am especially fond of the ones about her family. "Halo Effect" about little Hyrum
with his adorable picture touches the heart. "The Fairies of Motherhood" with a lovely picture of her
daughter and grandson also are so very touching. This book is the most beautiful one published by
SP in my opinion. I just love the cover and adore the unicorn that Andrea chose as it gives the book
a unique mystical feel to it all. It is hard to believe that this chapbook sells for a mere $5.00 as it is
worth so much more! This chapbook is packed with many poems that will touch your heart and soul.
It is now one of my most favorite; unique and beautiful as Andrea herself." - Floria Kelderhouse
"Andrea is a very talented lady and a close friend. I was thrilled to have a copy of her poetry I so much
admire. This chapbook will make a wonderful gift to any lover of poetry. My favorites are Of Honeysuckle Days,
Beneath the Echo, A Poet’s Dream, Her Twilight Ritual,The Dawning, Dear Treasure Chest, Desert Love, Shadow
of First Love, Keeper of the Beast, Ghost Rider in Vegas, In Vacant Time, In Clara’s Light, Inception of a Rose,
How Rare Must be the Man, and almost all the rest. This little treasure is a Must Have! Her chapbook colors and
image of the unicorn are very classy and so are the blue roses that went wonderfully with her poetry. When I
stopped to think about it, her poetry is like blue roses...it has a surreal flavor touched with beauty, emotion,
and a sincere quality that captures the heart.
Her book is a little work of art from beginning to end. I also enjoyed her endearing photos of her family. No-one
can write a sonnet like Andrea who aptly calls herself the sonneteer!" - Connie Marcum Wong
"Andrea is a fine poet and I'm thankful to see her own work in a book. I love her poetry, as there is
much soul and life in her words that are touching and with her humor able to make me cry and or laugh out
loud. Her love of her Grandson and her family is heartfelt and I dare say she herself is a spirit much like the
Unicorn, mystical and lyrical in form. I dearly treasure this chapbook and hope to be able to give this book
to many. Hopefully to be able to make her words touch other souls that need to be touched. Thanks for
having a poetry club that gives Artist like Andrea the opportunity to be read." - A touched soul, Jennifer

"If you enjoy structured poetry, I believe you will enjoy this book. Andie has incorporated here a list of her finest
poetry using such forms as the sonnet, etheree, triolet, pantoum, sonnet kyrielle, rondeau and mixed forms of
formal poetry. As I read "Dreaming the Unicorn: Lyrical Blooms", I kept a highlighter near by to highlight my
favorites. "A Poet's Dream," The Waiting Sleep," "Why I Weep," "Dreamer," "On Mountain Cold," "Winter of
my Tears," "Sweet Violets" and "Divine" are just a few of those I will mention here. Andie's poetry reflects life
experience, fantasy, love of nature, yearning, family and the love of poetry... And to leave you with the poem
that drew me into the book...
I know a place of solitude
for dreamers and the lovelorn.
With euphony they are imbued,
and poetry is born.
There roses are the rarest hue.
In lilac mist of morn,
I breathe sweet scent of petals blue...
I dream the unicorn."

"I thoroughly enjoyed reading Andrea's poetry, especially Dreaming the Unicorn, which is her newest
chapbook. My favorite sonnets are Mother's Crown of Pink, Sisterly Examples, and Now Presenting... because
they are stories and pictures about her mother and sisters, of which I am one. I have always known Andrea
enjoys writing, but I am very proud of her poetry writing because she writes about nature, love, and family in
ways that make me feel and see what she is trying to convey. I enjoyed looking at the pictures that were
placed next to the poems about her pets and family. I appreciated the mix of poetry of not only sonnets,
but rondeau, triolet, pantoum, sonnet kyrielle, and mixed forms. My favorites of these were Polishing Stones,
A Marriage of Seasons, Winter of My Tears, and Heartland Sonnet Kyrielle. My most favorite sonnet, if I had
to pick one, would be By Any Other Name where Andrea compares the color of love to different colored roses.
This sonnet displays Andrea's creativity of which she displays so much of in this chapbook. I will continue to
enjoy rereading all of these poems again and again." - Dori Richwine
"Andrea Dietrich is the poetry editor for SP Quill magazine, and her fluency in fixed form poetry is quite impressive, as is her poetic vocabulary. Some of the poetic forms I encountered in this book are the sonnet, the rhyme royale, the etheree, the triolet, the pantoum, the rondeau, and the swap quatrain. Here is a triolet from page 29:
Lovers Like Artists
The man who tries to understand
draws sweetest song from his adored.
He listens and does not command.
The man who tries to understand
the one who lies beneath his hand
plucks melody once unexplored.
The man who tries to understand
draws sweetest song from his adored.
The topics of her poems include love’s many aspects, from friendship, to passion, to fantasy lovers, haunting lovers from the past and the roads not taken, to the ups and downs of marital love, written with candid honestly. She also writes of family life, and moments of solitude in praise of the natural world.
Throughout her poems Ms. Dietrich uses lovely imagery. Here is a Passage from “Enraptured by the Sea’, page 35:
Enraptured by the sea, sun chose a place
above her, on a cliff. To touch her face,
he then sank low; final radiance fell,
a lover’s fingers on the ocean’s swell,
with passion’s touch her cobalt blue to trace.
Ms. Dietrich has written several other chapbooks, and been published in a number of collections as well." - Review by CarrieAnn Thunell, Editor of the Nisqually Delta Review
"This is a wonderful chapbook filled with a wide range of poetic forms. Andrea's sonnets are smooth and
tantalizing; full of emotion, some bright and some dark. Ghost Rider from Vegas (Sonnet #103), a story of man
riding to somewhere from nowhere silently crooning with his driver is magic. Keeper of the Beast (Sonnet #150) is
another beautifully mysterious tale of kindred beings sharing a relationship that is not too unlike some real-life
human to human relationships. Other poems in this chapbook, such as On Mountain Cold and Gypsy Song
Rondeau, are also among my favorites. This is my first chapbook purchase and it has set a very high mark for
others to follow. Thank you, Andrea for a truly good read!!" - Jim Dupy
