"I found myself lying in a field of clover in Andrea's Spring poem IN CLOVER GREEN
"inhaling scent of heather and each blossomed spray, in clover green we lay", in a beach chair
in the summer- "Fan my sun-drenched face, oh, gentle breeze. Bless me with the magic you
possess",in SUMMER WIND OF SEA(A PANTOUM). In Autumn's Farewell Waltz, I see a dance
between two leaves "Gliding and twirling, they waltzed all around, up the hill, down the hill,
over a stream. Sliding but never quite touching the ground, like Fred with his Ginger, they
danced like a dream." In MY CHRISTMAS SOUVENIR, Andrea helps me to remember the best
part about my childhood Christmasas- "The sledding and the skating and the tree, the sugar
cookies frosted green and red, The stringing popcorn with my family and going anxiously
that Eve to bed." HOPE'S OWN PRIZE and ON EASTER MORN are my two most favorite as
they are poems about the true meaning of Christmas and Easter. Andrea touches at the
heart with her words magically taking you on a tour of the seasons with her use of imagery
and of her own unique way of storytelling and sharing a place, a feeling, or a thought.
Another one of her best poems, THE SEASONS OF LOVE capped it all off on the inside
back cover of her chapbook. I loved every page!" - Dori Richwine
"From the poem on the first page of Andrea’s Chapbook The Seasonal Go Round A
Carousel of Verse I was enchanted by her poem “A Springtime Song.” As I quote the last
stanza:
“Flowers beam and streamlets gleam
along each mountain slope.
Colors sing and everything
is life and love and hope!”
These words shine a light on her brilliant talent that pervades throughout her chapbook.
“A Wild Awakening” alerts the senses to the beauty of nature in her different seasons as Andrea
extols the splendor of a myriad of wildflowers leaving one breathless with awe:
“Then comes the rain to bleak terrain
where gloriously unfolds
alongside barren roads – in patches –
desert marigolds.
Mojave yucca, blue lupines,
and sego lily whites
with Indian prairie fire flowers
paint the deserts bright.”
This beautiful poem had six stanzas and was one of my favorites.
Andrea has the ability to paint lovely landscapes with her clever imagery as she weaves waves
of colors into the magic of her words. She uses this imagery wondrously in “How Kind Dawn Is.”
It left me with tears in my eyes.
Andrea could be speaking of her own poetry, in my opinion, when you read “A Hard Act to Follow.”
She captures perfectly the regal ness of the stately blooming trees that grow in her front yard as her
love for their beauty is revealed.
I highly recommend this wonderful array of seasonal poems that will leave you wanting more. Andrea
includes challenging forms like her sonnet kyrielle, or pantoum, triolet, acrostic and other forms
she writes with ease. They will delight and enchant you. I would have to say it would be a challenge
for anyone not to keep reading the entire chapbook once they have read just one poem. This is one
chapbook not to be missed! Bravo Andrea!" - Connie Marcum Wong, Author of Island Creations
"Andrea Dietrich's poetry chapbook, "The Seasonal-Go-Round: A Carousel of Verse," is a must read.
Her professional treatment of formalized poetry shines as you take a delightful walk through the seasons. You
will find the Triolet, Rondeau, Kyrielle, Sonnet, Etheree and Pantoum scattered throughout, with colored photos
of her family and sketches done by her sister, Jennifer Ellen Walker. Stroll with her through the riotous-colored
patchwork of spring, amid dewy ferns, fields and forest glades. See the beauty, listen to the sweet songs of
nature, and feel the changes that the four seasons bring. Summer reveries range from a summer afternoon
sonnet to a cool June etheree, and then July comes teasing with her 'three digit temperature; hot, still air and
refreshing breezes.' "Nature's Gift Unwrapped by Fall" brings a potpourri of imagery and fall's birth is further
portrayed by "September's Aster" with "October Bliss" following close behind. Then on to Halloweening and
"Thanksgiving Eve in the House of Cinnamon" (my favorite) where mouth-watering aromas are guaranteed to
tickle your taste buds as you visit a happy home of harmony during the Christmas season. Dancing autumn
leaves bring a delightful farewell waltz out of fall. Next come poems about the icy depths of winter and you are
brought full circle back into spring with "Seasons of Love." You won't want to miss this delightful journey which
Andrea has prepared for you in her 'Carousel of Verse.'" - Mary Ports, author of Kaleidoscope
"This chapbook is delightful, it creates in my minds eye what each season is. It evokes my love
and emotion of what each season brings, each one bringing a new sensation that is brought to life with
the words of magic that Andrea Dietrich weaves throughout her poems. I would encourage anyone to
read her writings that are to me, most inspiring and enlightening. Great job Andrea, keep up the good work." -
