This section outlines general pricing and fees for chapbook publication and any additional fees that may apply. You can make the publication process as cheap or expensive as you’d like. We also offer a special Copyright Package for only $99.99 (see below). Each author will be subjected to a non-refundable $195.00 setup fee (except those ordering the copyright package). This cost is for converting your manuscript into chapbook format and other expenses. The minimum number of chapbooks a poet/author must purchase is 25 copies and then must be ordered in multiples of 25. Copies are $2.00 each.

*ISBN, International Standard Book Number, is a 10-digit or 13-digit number that uniquely identifies books and book-like products. The purpose of the ISBN is to identify one book title and related products from one specific publisher to the next, allowing for more efficient marketing of products by booksellers, libraries, universities, wholesalers and distributors. How? By purchasing an ISBN means, your chapbook will appear in Bowker's Books in Print, a database that retail bookstores, publishers, customers etc. may use to locate the books they want and purchase the title from the publisher.

**Shadow Poetry does not pay for copyrighting. We will provide you with two free copies of your published chapbook, a pre-addressed envelope to send in your work, and the proper forms. The fee to copyright will be $50.00 and take an average of nine months to receive notification from the Library of Congress. Your publication can be sold during this time.

Copyright Package
The copyright package is a special offer exclusively through Shadow Poetry as a means for a poet to save money by having his/her works copyrighted as a whole instead of individually through the US Copyright Office (Library of Congress) in book format. Whether it is one single poem or a collection of poetry, the copyrighting price is fixed at $50.00. If the average poet copyrighted 40 individual poems, filing each one separately with the LOC, the out of pocket expense would be $2,000.00 plus mailing expenses! Deduct the price of this package and the cost to copyright a poetry collection as a whole for one filing fee leaves you with a savings of over $1,800.00! With a boom in plagiarism, increase in the number of poetry/writing related web sites, e-zines, small presses, and the amount of amateur poetry being written in the information age, poets and authors alike have been very serious about obtaining copyrights to their works as quickly as possible. Shadow Poetry will set up and print a collection of no more than 40 pages worth of poetry to submit to the Library of Congress for copyrighting purposes only for $99.99. This includes setup, printing of five chapbook copies to keep and shipping. You will receive an additional two copies of the collection in a pre-addressed envelope to send in to the US Copyright Office as well as the proper forms to submit (already filled out). Shadow Poetry does not pay for copyrighting. Regulations: • The copyright package is for poets only. • These collections must not have any more than 40 poems, one per page. Should a poem run over onto the next page by a stanza or two and a smaller poem is offered in the manuscript, it will follow the spillover; otherwise, one page of content will be lost due to a poem being too long for our format. • The cover will be printed on white, slate gray, or cloud blue paper only with the title of the collection and the name of the author printed in black ink. A border, if desired, may be requested. See Cover Design #CCD-80 on the Shadow Poetry web site. #CCD-84 may also be chosen. • The back cover will be left blank (no excerpt, printing press logo, barcode, etc.). • One title page, a copyright page and a table of contents will be placed into the chapbook; all other introduction pages are not offered. • Page numbers will be plain (#s only) and page header dividers will be dotted lines. Restrictions: • Shadow Poetry will not offer these chapbooks for individual sale to the public (no bookstore page or setup); therefore, these publications are for personal use only. The author may purchase additional copies at any time for $7.00 each; $8.00 international (no s/h). • Authors will not receive royalties on these titles. • No images, photos, sketches etc. will be allowed or printed. • ISBNs may not be purchased for these collections. An item# will be assigned to the chapbook and printed on the copyright page for identification and reorder purposes only. • Discounts of any kind will not be accepted on this package.If you are interested in this package, please use the Copyright Package order form instead of the regular chapbook publication agreement form.
