The SP Quill from 2004 - 2008 was a 5.5" x 8.5" chapbook style quarterly magazine, but is now a perfect-bound 6" x 9"
biannual magazine for poets, writers, and poetry lovers filled with poetry, stories, articles, and fun. It is an interactive magazine, as well
as one you can curl up with for bedtime reading. Submit your works and purchase copies to help Shadow Poetry bring a world
of poetry to your fingertips.
Two issues will be offered yearly: Issue #1 & Issue #2 to be released in the months
of May and November respectively.

Subscription Rates: Subscriptions are no longer accepted. To purchase single issue from 2004 to 2008, click on the "back issues" link above. Issue are $10.00 each or may be purchase in sets for a lower price. Issues
from 2009 and beyond, prices and availability to be announced.
Submissions: The SP Quill accepts submissions for two issues per year of these forms: poetry,
short/flash stories, poet/author profiles, personal quotes, and up to eight cinquain for issue one, and/or three
etheree issue two. Other essays, articles, or poetic features will be considered should they be submitted.
The SP Quill does not pay for submissions should they appear within an issue or give out contributor copies to poets.
Since this is a small press operation, the SP Quill does not pay for
submissions should they appear within an issue or give contributors free copies.
Professionalism is a must. We expect cover letters if submitting through the mail, readable font, and well crafted
and formatted submissions. An SASE is a must for a reply. We will not tolerate submissions in "rough draft" form or
with spelling errors.
All work, if accepted, must be the original work(s) of the poet/author/artist and previously unpublished. No previously
web published poetry.
The SP Quill will have first-time publishing rights to all material until after the issue is released when the
copyrights will revert back to the original author/artist so he/she may publish the same material elsewhere
in the future. Neither Shadow Poetry nor the SP Quill will ever take or sell the copyrights to anyone’s
works.
Acceptance letters will be sent out to all poets and authors appearing within an issue at least three weeks
before the magazine is scheduled for release. For works submitted long before the deadline, we will respond
to works within one month. If your work does not make it in the first issue you submit to,
please try again.

Poetry Submissions: Poetry submissions may be made via the submission form below, emailed
to spquill@shadowpoetry.com or by mail.
Send up to five poems per poet per issue for review. A short poet profile may accompany the poems (written in 3rd person). Poetry
should be no more than 30 lines in length. Name of the poet, address, and email address must accompany
all submissions, no exceptions. All poetry must be the original work of the author and previously unpublished.
If your work is accepted, you will automatically be a contestant for "The Quill's Top 10."
Cinquain and Etheree: The SP Quill will feature cinquain in the first issue and etheree in the second issue per year.
Cinquain and etheree submissions may be made via the submission form below, emailed
to spquill@shadowpoetry.com or by mail. Send up to eight
cinquain or three etheree per poet for review. A short poet profile may accompany
the poems (written in 3rd person). Name of the poet, address, and email address must accompany
all submissions, no exceptions. All poetry must be the original work of the author and previously unpublished.
Deadlines: February 28 (cinquain) and August 31 (etheree).
Short/Flash Stories: Short story submissions may be made via the submission form below, emailed
to spquill@shadowpoetry.com or by mail.
Send only one story per author per issue for review. A short author profile may accompany the work (written in 3rd person). Short Stories
should be no more than 1,000 words in length since the SP Quill has very limited space. Name of the author,
address, and email address must accompany all submissions, no exceptions. All stories must be the original
work of the author and previously unpublished. Remember to edit your work for best overall appearance and impression.
Quotes: Quote (preferably on the subjects of writing, poetry, and life) submissions may be made via the submission form below, emailed
to spquill@shadowpoetry.com or by mail.
Send up to three quotes per person per issue for review. Name of the author, address, and
email address must accompany all submissions, no exceptions. All quotes must be the original
sayings of the author and previously unpublished.
Magnet Poetry: The SP Quill welcomes magnet poetry created from the Shadow Poetry
Magnetic Word Poetry board located in the home section of this site. Only the best poems (average of 2-4 per issue) will
be published. Magnet poem submissions may be made via the submission form below, emailed to
spquill@shadowpoetry.com or by mail. Send only
one magnet poem per person per issue for review. Name of the author, address, and email
address must accompany all submissions, no exceptions.
